West Virginia Split Rail Fence
Split Rail Fence, or Post & Rail Fence, has been a popular choice as barrier fencing in Western New York for many years. It has very little impact on view and is available in 2- or 3- Rail varieties.
Split Rail Fences are typically used as a low profile property line delineator or decorative accent in or around planting beds. For extra security, or to keep your kids and dogs from wandering, simply attach welded wire mesh to a 3 rail fence.
City Fence Split Rail Fence uses high quality Western Red Cedar Lumber which exhibits natural resistance to insect damage and decay. It is easily assembled and custom fit to size on-site.
We also offer the West Virginia Split Rail Fencing, which is assembled using "Pressure-Treated" Pine components.

The Fence Post Footer is a critical component of the fence system that must be correctly designed and installed in order to securely anchor your fence posts to the ground. Since Split Rail Fences in Western New York will be subjected to freeze-thaw cycles during the winter, City Fence uses a traditional sand & gravel footer mix that has been proven over the decades in this application.
When installing your Split Rail Fence, we will first excavate holes that extend 36 inches deep down into the ground, below the winter frost line. We will then pour sand and gravel mix into the holes, packing it tightly around each fence post. Usually on the same day, we will construct the rest of your Split Rail Fence.
